Braves Band Booster Information

The School Band Program provides an opportunity for students to play an instrument: trumpet, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, flute, oboe, French horn, baritone, trombone, or percussion.

The Braves Band Boosters support the school events by recruiting volunteers to help out at events. In addition, the Braves Band Boosters raise funds to enhance the school program by paying for items and activities such as:

  • Up to date Sheet music for all grade levels
  • Music Stands
  • Entire Storage system at RMS
  • Marching band equipment
  • Scholarships for all that applied to summer band camps
  • Trills and Thrills trip for 8th Graders

The following is a brief overview of the band program by grade level, for more details, see the handbooks listed on the sidebar:

5th Grade: Students have the opportunity to take group lessons during the school day once a week for 20 minutes and participate in band practices on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. 5th graders are required to purchase their own music books.

6th Grade: Students have the opportunity to participate in band every day during the school day. Students perform at three concerts during the year, participate in the Solo and Ensemble Festival and march in the Memorial Day Parade.

7th Grade: Students have band every day during the school day. In addition to performing in three concerts during the year, an annual Solo and Ensemble Festival, and march in two parades, the students also participate in a RMS pep band and play for the 8th grade graduation ceremonies at Hononegah High School. Students also have the option to participate in the RMS Jazz Ensemble and audition for the State Honors Band and State Honors Jazz Band.

8th Grade: Students have band every day during the school day, perform at three concerts during the year and march in two parades. In addition, the 8th grade band members participate in the following: Solo and Ensemble Festival, Pep Band performances, Jazz Band performances, Hononegah Area Music Festival, State Honors Band and State Honors Jazz Band Auditions, Recruitment Concert for the 4th grade students, and the Trills and Thrills Festival at Six Flags Great America.

The school sponsors many band events during the course of the year. Please see the handbooks for a detailed list.
